Nope . Reason being, the 6 cyl just doesn't have enough power to pull that baby. If you had a 2500 HD or 3500 HD whether Diesel / Gas with 4x4 and either a 1/2 ton , 3/4 or a 1 ton chassis ... then you could pull it off because the power and torque is there. 4.3 L is a pepy engine, but with a fifth wheel attached.... a lot of stress will go to the engine, tranny, and rear end.....

You can get a 18 to 20 inch 5th wheel trailer at wal mart but yes you can pull a 18 to20 foot the newer trucks are made for pulling but id go with a 5.7 i have a 96 z71 k1500 with 5.7 v8 and 4l80 trans and transfercase same set up as my 2500 except my 2500 is 2wheel drive and my 1500 hase thefactory tow pacage pluse a bumperpull hitch 5thwheel hitch to .and is rated at 7000 pounds but im not going to be pulling a big 5th wheel nothing over 28 feet total shorter is posable. I know it will pull it im a retired master tec with over 32 years hands on .iv worked on these trucks the problem people have is they overload the truck .you got to distribute the load correctly .and match trailer weight with the tow rateing of the vehicle. Never max or excede the load rateing and you will be fine. If your a cross country guy or girl get a 2500 diecel.or a 1500 diecel .id use the 2500 diecel .unless you are going to tow a 35 foot or longer trailer you dont need a 3500 with any size engine. I got the 2500 for towing heavy stuff and to carry a cabover.EVERYBODY HAS THERE OPINION THE BEST THING IS GO TO A RV DEALER AND ASK THEM TAKE THE TRUCK YOU WANT TO USE AND HAVE THEM MATCH YOU UP .IM GOING BY EXPERIANCE MY 1500 IS A HEAVY HALF TON. I WOULDENT USE A REGULER HALF.
