2006 Chevy silverado oil gauge issue

My oil gauge will jump all the way up when I step on the brake and drop all the
way down when I accelerate.  Why?

There is a screen under the oil pressure sending unit that has to fished out and cleaned and put back in. This screen gets plugged up and causes false oil pressure readings. Should replace the oil pressure sending unit while it is out anyway.
