5.3 Knock. NOT Like the usual!

Asked by MattBetts Nov 06, 2019 at 02:15 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 z71 5.3 (LM7) with 270k miles.
In the last 10k miles ots developed this weird
knock. I'll start the truck and after about 5
mins of driving itll start to knock. After about
5-10mins of knocking itll just go away. I don't
lose power. And it I keep about 45oil pressure
consistently. I've read countless forums and
have never seen this problem discussed.
PLEASE HELP!

It's more likely a piston slap they called it in the old days. Piston ware. shrinks when it cools down. or cylinder out of round. when the engine warms up, tightens it up enough so it comes back close to specs. I would assume your using some oil.
