2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD LT 4WD, just purchased for $875, needed fuel pump and filter and was told the transmission was shot. I changed fp and it ran fine for about 100 miles, full tune up then lost all gears, mechanic said possibly shift motor on transfer case and to remove and manually shift to check????

any others?

If it runs while cool,as you said,then gos out,i agree with Tom,it is bad,bands are burnt,put another in it or rebiuld that one.

thanks for the input, however I'm curious about the transfer case shift motor as the local mechanic said it was stuck in neutral? Wondering if anyone has ever had this happen and then manually shift to determine whether or not its the shift motor and/or module. Difference between $140 and who knows what a tranny shop will charge.
