Our son added water to radiator so we drained some out of it by taking off a radiator hose
and now when I added more coolant it keeps over heating and I get no heat and can't
seem to get it take the coolant.

I would drain it and start over with the proper mixture of coolant to water ratio (dexcool is about a 50/50 mix)- if you don't know how to do it take it to the dealer.
this truck has a pressurized surge tank. the procedure for draining the system or flushing it is pretty involved. You can get by for now by removing the radiator and venting residual pressure. Then crawl underneath and open the petcock at the bottom of the radiator. (counterclockwise to open). That should allow you to refill the system. If not, you'll have to drain the radiator and crawl under the engine to open the drain plugs on either side of the block.
