theft deterrent lamp

Theft deterrent lamp (open padlock) stays on after 03 duramax 2500 diesel starts.  starts and runs fine.  how to diagnose it to be sure a reset might work?

System is either unlocked or disabled. Disconnect battery positive lead, utilize a temporary jumper wire between ground and the disconnected positive lead. Wait ten minutes or more, remove jumper. Leave positive disconnected for 30 minutes. Passlock system should reset. (Wait times are approximate. Less or more may be required. However, noted time should produce results.)
