The diagram is for starter motor. The feed goes from crank position of ignition switch to neutral or clutch switch, depending on the tranny, then to control side of starter relay. When relay is energized, that line with arrowhead moves to contact the terminal that sends voltage to starter motor.

Just to add, make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good.

Use a test light and check for voltage at the fuses in fuse box. Some fuses are hot all the time, some go hot with the key on. Check them both ways. If no voltage at fuse box have to backtrack. Use the test light to follow voltage on positive battery cable/wires, where ever it goes. Grounds are important, also.

Just add, there are fusible links involved. The yellow wires to ignition switch are hot all the time and fuse protected. You can use test light on those and check for voltage.

have 1986 ford f150 lariat and 1985 ford bronco lariat have the same problem with both if I turn the key all the way on nothing happens the steering wheel would not unlock either after paying 400.00 to have it towed home. replaced ignition same problem pulled steering wheel off pulled ignition switch out down below ignition switch is a little gear that disengages neutral safety switch and steering lock the end of the gear wears down or breaks the last gear off jambing my steering wheel. ford wants 150.00 for the gear I said heck with it I ran a wire from the little post on the front of solenoid to a push button connected to a hot wire under dash. try running the hot wire first but beeeeeeecareful it will start in any gear and take off possibly causing serious injury or death if you try the hot wire make sure it is in park chock wheels. turn ignition key on to run press the little button if it starts and the steering wheel turns if it does the little gear is broke or worn out replace don't leave it like that if somebody drives like that and hurts someone you are liable for by passing safety devices both my vehicles are still like that but nobody drives em but me if I take it to get tires I do not let them drive it into the bay or I take the wheels off and get done that way. I do my own engines trannies and axles so that's the easy way to check gear it's safer to spend the money on the part than hurt yourself or some one else good luck. Big blue 302
