ABS light
Asked by GuruXF49B Nov 18, 2018 at 07:37 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Extended Cab 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was on a trip and my abs light came on on my 05
2500hd Silverado 6.0 as I was driving and then it
went back off and never thought anything of it
yesterday on the way home from work I noticed a
metal on metal grinding sound.....but only as I
turned to the right and the abs light was on
wondering if that could be related

the noise could be a metal shroud making contact , a bearing would start humming /vibrating , the abs sensor may be part of the bearing read the code and see which wheel , noise in a right turn means the left tire as i remember .
I talked to a guy at work and he said same thing that a metal shaving from a bearing might have made contact with the sensor which is magnetic so it’s sending a code causing the abs light to come on
Seen the hub overheating throw a [ABS] code as the first sign of a bearing issue.
