Automatic 4x4

Asked by Nichole Nov 20, 2016 at 03:36 PM about the 1993 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XL 4WD SUV

Question type: General

I recently bought a 93 ford explorer, with touch
buttons on the dash but I am not sure when the
4x4 is on and when it's off cuz the indicator light
doesn't work. Can anybody tell how to figure that
out

If you have it set on auto then it is hard to tell if it is in or not. My Fords don't have a light to indicate when the auto kicks in. They do have lights to tell when it is in 4-High and 4- Low.

You can tell by the feel of the car if you turn sharply on dry pavement with it in 4wd as the drive train binds up and it is hard to turn.
