1993 Ford Probe GT runs rough.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
1993 Ford Probe GT, 28k miles, suddenly idles rough after warmup, struggles and shakes through 2nd gear, runs but not correctly in other gears, seems to burn more fuel. Going to try new fuels filter. New O2 sensors installed, same result. Acceleration not normal, feels like not getting fuel it needs vs electrical - hard to imagine electrical with such low miles and wear.

At that low a mileage the car probably sat for years without running. I hope you drained the fuel before you started it. I suspect you might have old fuel. Have the fuel lines cleaned and injectors. Did you change the oil yet? I'd also replace the distributor Cap and rotor and spark plug wires and spark plugs. the wires are probably toast from age and the cap plastic is probably brittle. Those parts are probably 30 years original.
I acquired in 2021 with quarter tank of old fuel, topped off with premium right away and have been adding sea foam with every tank. My guess it finally plugged the fuel filter a bit. I agree, new fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. It had fresh oil and I just changed it again. I put 3k miles on it since purchase. Thanks. Online research says I'm on the right track before getting into more expensive, electrical components, system sensors, etc...
Thanks Vroom. New plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, she flies now!!! Smooth as silk. Gonna replace fuel filter. Rotor contact was crusted over with crud, 5th cyl plug had very oily threads and some unused gas on it - little to no spark happening in 5.
