Spitting and sputtering
Asked by Amber Sep 14, 2017 at 10:09 PM about the 2006 Ford Mustang GT Premium RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My Mustang is spitting and sputtering in high gear low
RPMs. Around 2k. I cleaned the air filter and treated the
injectors via sea foam treatment on the tank but it's not
helping. I have the engine code P0340 but both the
sensors have been replaced as well as the alternator. This
issue is out of my league.

Believe it or not...you may have a bad alternator with a bad diode back-feeding a/c voltage into your electrical system. Take it to your local O'reilly Auto Parts store and have them test the alternator in the vehicle. Their tested should show if a diode is bad or not. Alternators have more than 1 diode and can still charge with a bad diode. If the above link does not work, remove the extra space just before "mustang". This site for some reason inserts a space when posting a fairly long link.
