I have found that most use the 5 X 4.5 designation, and what I am looking for can be found here: http://www.originalwheels.com/ford-wheels/crownvictoria.php

While the wheels will fit, the offset of the wheel centers will be different. There are 2 different offsets for the 16" wheels as well. There's also a recall on the 16" wheels with seven (7) slots.

Excellent additional info. So which offset fits my car ('96) - I want the wide stance without the dish look of the Towncar.

I'm sorry, I don't know. I've always been an OEM technician and rarely go outside Factory specs. I wonder if a well-known tire outfit like a Firestone or Goodyear shop would be able to tell you.
