Will a 1998 grand marquis motor 4.6 fit in a
1996 4.6 body

Yes, the motor will fit with no mechanical issues, the only concerns are the electrical connections and engine harness. And maybe some of the sensors. This is resolved by using some parts from the old engine to the new one. Good luck :-)
