crown victoria puttering

Asked by Jay Dec 16, 2015 at 04:14 PM about the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria 4 Dr S Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While on vacation for three first time ever I forgot to shut
off the engine before pumping

. Shortly after I noticed a "puttering" "stumbling" while
accelerating between 30-60mph 60mph + it drives fine. Got
back from vacation  changed my fuel filter and ran
seafoam through the fuel lines and injectors via vacuum
lines.. Drove fine for a day then started again.
Changed the plugs and noticed the 4th cylinder coil pack
came apart sure enough a few days later after more
puttering the mil came on for a cylinder 4missfire.
Has anyone had this problem? Buying the coil pack this
weekend . I was thinking a fuel pump cuzz of the whole
pumping gas thing. Please help!! I don't even drive it now!!

Ps... fuel pump is maybe 7 Mos old. Before changing fuel
filter and doing anything while puttering while accelerating
the mil would flash sometimes and them go off. Please
help!! Thank you!

I suspect the bad coil pack is the problem. I think the gas pumping incident is just coincidental.

OK thanks! I figured a bad fuel pump would have done a lot more than that or would be a constant issue. Not just 30to60mph.
