Your regular good run of the mill tool set, a drain pan, a low lying jack with plywood sheet to lay and balance trans on or rent a trans jack, a couple of good, high jack stand, a cheater bar, a propane torch, a guy to help ya, a painter pen if u wanna mark something, if you need, a Chilton r Haynes book, a can of wd-40, a lot of patience and finally bengay for soreness from laying under...lol. Ive done them before, like this...kinda messy, but if you don't mind getting dirty u can o it!
If you have few tools and little experience I would not attempt this repair. A transmission shop can have the transmission out very quickly.
Neccesity is the mother of invention...cvb, you can do it! You'll learn a lot, along with a lot of swear words u probably didn't know u knew...lol!

I was going to swap it with another 4r7w transmission i just got to find which vehicles have it to see which is cheaper
A 2004 likely has a 4R75W transmission. I would check the numbers on it and make sure you go back with the same model transmission. A 4R70W is very similar, but they are electronically controlled so the other transmission will physically fit, but might not operate properly. The 4R75W is a heavy duty version of the 4R70W.
Hello Lameldrick, I'm in the same situation you were, back then. How did you make out swapping out transmissions?
