Schrader valve

Asked by patchief16 Apr 01, 2017 at 05:51 PM about the 1993 Ford Ranger XL Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 93 2.3 quit running on the interstate an
hour from home. Running fine then just quit.
Had it towed to a local shop, they diagnosed
low fuel pressure. Said it needed a new fuel
pump.  I traileted it home and replaced the
fuel pump and fuel filter. Turned on the key
and fuel shot out of the schrader valve. Tried
tightening the inner pin. Looks like ill have to
go to a dealer or junk yard to get a new one
unless i can get an answer here on a fix. Any
suggestions?

You could try and get a replacement stem from the auto parts store. There just like a bike tire or car tire stem, should even try and take it out and clean. These types of stems will not seal against gas tho so don't try that.

Make sure to use a schrader valve with a viton seal or the gasoline will quickly ruin the seal.
