My 2002 Ford Escape sometimes locked in park and I can not get out of gear , I have sometimes gotten lucky by rocking the Car .Is this a Transmission problem or easy fix ?

Are you stepping on your brake pedal when trying to change gear, many models won't unlock unless you do.

Check make sure you put it in park all the way and push your brakes when its started see if you have brake lights if not its a brake switch and that means iit's a neutral safety switch 100%
