1993 Ford Ranger

Asked by E2cU Jan 02, 2018 at 06:58 PM about the 1993 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove a Pontiac to the junk yard with a new
battery, (no alternator, fan belt and other pulleys
were broken) died when I arrived. Put the battery in
a Ranger and jumped it. Started, drove around for
15 minutes, died again. Jumped it in the morning
got to work ok. Turning on the headlights made the
engine almost cut out. I had tried to jump it again
and it would not start. I don't know if it's the cold
(10 degrees) or maybe my alternator. I get the door
buzzer and radio but when I try to start it, it'll turn
but not start then I have nothing after that,
everything is off. This all happens while still
hooked up to another car. Can someone tell me
how to fix this?

Have the alternator tested at a parts store like autozone they will test for free should be charging at 14 volts.
