On my 2004 Ford Excursion (V10), I was backing a trailer in 4wd and it would not engage. Actually, with the trailer on, it didn't seem to engage at all. But with the trailer off, no problem. What am I doing wrong?

Rule out the trailer wiring harness first. Try disconnecting it. If all is well, then I would suspect an electrical fault. Make sure you have no short circuits going on. Hope this helps.
