Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Ford Expedition. I just replaced the alternator and the battery is only a
couple of months old. Now the battery light and information center will flash
and the bell rings at the same time.

Check the voltage on the battery. With the vehicle off, it should be over 12v. Running 13v. Might be slightly higher. If the battery voltage does not increase, vehicle running, the alternator is bad.

With the engine off it’s 12.98, engine running it’s 14.05.

Regulator circuit in alternator could be bad. Sense circuit to the PCM could be bad. Some manufacturers are picky about aftermarket parts. Hence the alternator (labeled AC generator) regulator circuit may be right, but the PCM reads it as bad. Google for a schematic and check all the wires but especially the wire that goes to the PCM.
