2003 Ford Expedition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2003 Ford Expedition and when I got
home I popped the hood because I was smelling
oil. When I popped the hood I discovered oil was
everywhere! There was also oil on my front driver
side tire and wheel well, but not on the passenger
side. Would there possibly be anywhere on the
driver side of the engine that could leak oil that
bad? I also have a high temp low oil light coming
on but my dipstick is showing that I have plenty of
oil. There’s also some type of clattering noise
coming from the engine that I can seem to find. Any
ideas?

Before purchasing it wasn’t making any clattering noises or anything. And there wasn’t any lights on other than the check engine light, which I was going to get checked the next day, but then I discovered it had an oil leak. So we’ve been trying to find the leak. We didn’t check the car due to the guy meeting us so we could buy it, so we figured nothing was wrong with the vehicle and we would check everything out when we got home.

I have a 2006expedition 5.4and it had oil everywhere and on top of timing chain cover there was two holes big enough to put my thumbs in we jbquick it and it's not leaking a bit
