Why is my oil metallic?

Asked by Richard May 25, 2020 at 10:25 PM about the 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What would cause oil to look like metallic paint? My girl
was driving her 04 expedition it died on her twice on the
way home she said the first time she pulled over after it
died it started up the second time it died and was over
heating she had to get it towed because it wouldn't start.
We've changed the terminals, installed a new starter, and
the only noise it makes is one loud metal on metal click
sound after new starter was installed. During all this I went
to change the oil and it had only about 3 quarts at most
and the oil looked metallic. I was wondering if anyone
might have any idea why the Expedition won't start and if
the metallic oil might have something to do with why it's
not starting and why it died and over heated.

It sounds like the maintenance has been lower than ideal and the performance request a little higher than Ideal for this vehicle. If the vehicle is worth it replace the engine and service or build the auto trans. or Trade in or scrap! Sorry sir... Mark...
