Unfortunately, there is no easy way to bypass the security system. It was put in place to prevent easy bypass to prevent theft. Anyone posting a way to bypass would diminish the security for all other vehicles. I feel for you but you will likely need a shop to fix it for you (sorry).
A good thought, but dealer can't seem to find a fix; Towed it to shop in full failure mode, and they still were unable to fix it. It eventually "fixed" itself.
By "fixed" itself, do you mean it just suddenly started working, or was there a wink wink work around that you found that you don't want to post due to Gary's point about undermining the security feature? Thanks.
I finally got rid of my 2000 f150, after towing it twice, to a Ford dealer. All I got was a call from sales mgr, offering me a trade in deal. That tells me, there's no fix for this failure.
ps; It was also prone to shutting down, in traffic. Not safe.
Answers to pat's system! I exhausted myself trying to get my explorer system up and heres what i learned about pats. It cant be over ridden or "simply" bypassed i.e. the way a remote starter might. When mine failed i researched everything, took to a dealer/ fail... Switched components, and did eventually get it going. Heres what you need to know. Pro thiefs have cpu's that are jail broken. Simple swap in seconds. If you have access to a complete pats system you van accomplish the same by swapping all the corresponding ststems, cpu, rfid (chip in key) and atleast one other component, + possibly the ignition chip reader, swap them with a complete functioning system and you are good to go. Unless someone swaped out one of these synchro systems and disrupted the flow of info, there should be no issue getting new keys programed which only needs to be done by dealer if you have no existing keys programed to the system. So, nothing has changed, whats going on then and why did my key fail? Pull the rfid from the key, open the panel around the ignition and play with getting the rfid every angle and place around the rfid reader and wire loop around the ignition until theft light turns off and starts. I found that for some reason mine only works one direction in one spot attached to the outside of the ignition chip rfid reader... So i hot melt glued it on, havent had a problem since. I did have to replace all the origional electrical in sync to that system... Hope this helps. If there is no logical reason for a problem and theft light is on, you have an origional key and cpu and corresponding pat system components havent been damaged or removed, its the chip not reading. Do what i did, then program more keys which is easy to diy! Good luck.
Got rid of my 2000 f150,... Had a dealer sales type call wanting to sell me another vehicle. I bought another truck froma different dealer!
Actually, you can by pass the PATS. I have done it on a Chevy and Ford. All you need is a toggle switch and hide it under the dash.
