Why does my ford explorer 2002XLS 5-speed makes a cliking/grinding noise in 1st and 2nd gear after changing clutch kit?

Changed flywhheel, clutch disc and plate (all new kit from Southland clutch in california but when in 2nd and 3rd gear I hear grinding noise but as soon as I accelerate the noise ceases. What could be the cause?

If your vehicle was built in the 50 or 60's I would say you would have to manually adjust the clutch, but that isn't the case now. It would appear something is binding causing the clutch to grind. Recheck the installation and inspect the clutch to see if you can observe any unusual ware.
