accidently put truck on 3rd gear resulted in damaged thermostat housing. Will not crank up and water is reversing to water reservoir , What is the Problem ?

Third gear cannot damage the thermostat housing. I suspect you have some kind of problem with the cooling system but cannot tell with the info you gave.

It may be hydro locked due to a blown head gasket. Pull the spark plugs and run a compression test.
