I have an 02 Ford Explorer 4x4, 4dr 4.0, non flex fuel, not a Sport Trac. I ordered a motor today from LKQ online that is a 01 Merc Mountaineer engine...(same specs as my Explorer).... Was told by someone it would work, was told by someone else that it would not and was told by a third person that it "might work"...Am at a loss. Getting ready to drop $1K on this with a steep return/shipping fee...any advice on whether this will work or not?

Is there a ground wire located near or in the front bumper of 02 explorer? I'm having problems with "Door Ajar" light flashing and interior lights coming on by themselves and did not notice problems until front bumper was replaced. I was told there may be a loose ground wire in bumper causing this. Thanks. 2 Answers

OK i'm stumped. I have a 2001 ford explorer(please keep comments about fords to yourself ). I've had 4 episodes where i was driving along with no issues and the even though i am excellerating the car stops running and the stalls out. Once i pull it to the side of the road and try to start it it back fires and qcts like it it out of gas but if you wait 30 plus minutes it will start and run for a bit longer then repeats itself a couple more times but then it will runs for days until it does it again. The check engine light is not on but the check gas cap is on. we replaced the gas cap and it is still on. The first time this happened I had it towed and the mechanic tightened the serpentine belt and fixed the manifold gasket. Does anyone have any ideas???? 14 Answers
