location of vacuum control valve 2002 explorer 4.0

What problem are you having? Is the heater not working?
I have heat but not to the floor. I do get air flow through the vents. Also going up a hill the heat will default to the defroster then back to the vents once I level out. I was advised to change the vacuum control valve but I cannot find it under the hood.
The problem could be in the front heater/ac control assembly (the knobs) Remove the dashboard center bezel. Remove the assembly. You should notice the blend door vacuum harness. If you are lucky the problem is there. Check for leaks. Loosing vacuum under load is a sign of a leak. The blend door may be spring loaded so it returns to it's default position when no vacuum is present. You should have the same problem when the vehicle is running while in park and you race the engine.
Can you help with the location of the vacuum control valve.
The system vacuum, and diversion of air when accelerating, is probably caused by a fault in the vacuum tank (reservoir) or the accompanying check valve. Most times they are located on the passenger side of the engine compartment but could also be inside the fender well. Locate the vacuum line entering the cabin through the rear firewall, it is usually black. Trace it in the other direction and see where it connects. It should connect to the tank/reservoir which could look like a ball or something to hold vacuum. Check that the tank is holding vacuum and the check valve is operational.
Just like this guy, my only question is where the control valve is! Any help with just that?
You are asking about something that does not exist so people are trying to figure out what the problem is. There are lots of vacuum parts but no central control. The hose to your vacuum tank is probably leaking.
If your Explorer is like my F150 the vacuum tank is on the back side of the battery box. On mine the vacuum hoses rotted off right at the tank.
