Can a sport trac transmission go in a 2002 4wd ford explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Paid shop in 2015 and 2016 to replace bad tranny with
rebuilt one. 1st time did nothing gave it back after 32 days
insisting tranny replaced. 2nd time im told 1st time was
never done this time they kept it fir 87 days finally gave it
back here we are less than 6 months later and im told they
put a sports trac tranny in and not the correct one....im at a
loss....oh...and they claim last week it popped out of gear
and hit a 80k mac tool  box....from park to drive
