What does it mean when the battery volt gauge shoot striaght up to the H, and then the radio goes off, and the power on the windows dont work?

Once the volt gague it's the H the radiio goes off I notice that the power windows wont work. And also on the dashboard unable to read the milage. What does this mean?

I believe the guage on the dash indicates the condition of the charging system, not the battery. Have the alternator checked.
