What is causing serpentine belt to split

My derpantine belt broka a day after a loud
noise came from my passenger side
understand hood. And battery light came on.
I replaced the first one but few hours later
that second one broke. What is the problem

Before installing another belt make sure a bearing has not seized up on one of the accessories like the alternator , power steering pump , idler and tension pulleys.

2006 Ford 500, has a new a/c system, wont blow cold air. Took it to the shop, they replaced compressor and dryer under warranty. Still wont blow cold air, so they replaced the freeze lines, still no cold air. They dont know what is causing it. Anyone had this issue before/have an idea as to the cause? 6 Answers
