do your best to keep the water off the electronics, it a tall order. I generally leave this to a detail company to ensure its done without inviting unnecessary problems

Do not wash~ electricals will go fancy on ya~ blast clean with air...use a paintbrush...but can say from experience (used to pressure wash engines) that bring a can of wd-40 if you're gonna do it~ and a towel or paper towel to swab the ignition system dry...or wrap it in plastic so it won't get wet~ but DO NOT clean the engine....as click and clack used to say "CLEAN THE WINDOWS" instead...which is wise...you don't eat breakfast on the top of your engine~!

If you decide to go ahead then pull all the coils and dry out the spark plug wells before driving it.

Yea, washing a engine with water would be too risky, too much electronics and sensors that shouldn't get wet. Like others said, just wipe off, and dust off, maybe an old paint brush.
