won’t start!!

Asked by RockyW Aug 08, 2018 at 06:33 AM about the 2002 Ford Taurus SES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2 years ago my friend was driving it and it
started running really rough. So she pulled
over immediately and had it towed to her
parents house where it sat for 2 years. I
towed it to my house and replaced the
water pump. Now it won’t start.
I’ve tried reprogramming the Keys,
disconnecting and reconnecting the
battery, even splicing wires so it at least
turns over but it WILL NOT START.
Shortly before she parked it the alternator
was replaced. The battery is bad but I’ve
hooked up a good battery to it with the
same result.

Yes sir I believe I can tell you what happened I think that there was some moisture that got into the fuel tank and dried up the diaphram in the fuel pump over it sitting for two years because the fuel will eventually start to varnish up inside the tank and then it will ruin the fuel pump inside the fuel tank and cause it not to work.So if you would have tried to put some fresh fuel in side the carboraror chances are it probabley would have started .
