If it were that easy it wouldn't exactly be "anti-theft" and car thieves would be having a field day. Your chipped key is encoded to the engine's computer, which is also encoded to the passive anti-theft system. You can't just replace one of those without having to get them re-encoded to one another to keep them talking. So basically you can either go to a dealership or a professional locksmith to get a new master key, OR get a tweaked (i.e. modified) engine control module stripped to the PATs programming. The first option is the cheaper. Quick question, how did they keep the car running long enough to sell it to you without a master key? And couldn't you put it back on them to provide said key as part of the deal?
