press gas no accelration

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. I was driving up a bridge one day and the car
stop accelerating. I eventually had to roll backwards down the bridge and roll
it into a parking lot. The car starts fine and will switch gears into neutral and
drive and reverse. when in drive though, as the gas is pressed the engine
just revs up and there is no movement at all. I was thinking maybe the
transmission filter could be clogged, or a fuel filter problem. so I wanted to
ask a professional.

If the engine is running, it's not a fuel filter or trans filter, but the transmission itself. Does your car have the CVT transmission? They are known to have issues like this. Have a garage, mechanic or trans shop diagnose it for you to sort out a repair.
