Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Ford Taurus. Lost keys & bought new ignition
cylinder w/ keys. Installed and now car won't even
crank. All electronics work & I can hear the fuel
pump. Thought battery was dead but tried jumping
it but it didn't work.

Keys have to be programmed to the specific vehicle or the anti-theft system will keep vehicle from starting. Contact a local Ford dealership service department for more info.

Your 2005 has PATS keys (passive anti theft). The keys do have a chip in them. See the link.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SecuriLock
