newer Low mileage domestic vs older high mileage import for same price

Asked by Redking117 Aug 10, 2014 at 03:37 PM about the 2006 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm shopping around for cars with a manual transmission (for fun, mpg, and reliability)

I've noticed 2006 Honda Civics sell for anywhere form $6-12k with anywhere from 100-200k miles on the odometer.

I've also been looking at domestic vehicles and I have found that much newer 2008-2010 Chevy Aveo and Cobalt sell for $4-6k with very low miles, ranging from 27-90k

Are Chevy's really so unreliable?

Are Honda's really STILL reliable when so old and having such high mileage?

1 Answer

I think folks are leery of the Cobalt and it's ignition switch recalls (sorry munron) and the Aveo 218,000 recalls for headlight modules overheating Quote: "According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," end quote. But those things can be fixed. No, Chevy's are not that unreliable. Especially with low mileage. Maybe not in the same league as Honda and Toyota, but still are not junk by any means
