pt cruiser brake light

I don't mean the dash brake light.. I mean the brake lights on the bumper. Just wanted to clarify.
so how did you fix it? I am having the same problem, i hope to replace the switch But i am not sure where it is located Thanks
if the car has been to mech.shop lately, some 'jiggling' may have occurred - lotta crooks out there. [new switch requires proper adjustment or problem will persist - spend time getting adjustment correct]
adjust break light switch.
The switch is under the brake pedal, it needs to be replaced, happened to me a couple years ago.

Yes That's the problem. Easy fix. Before you go out and buy a new one, I would check to see if the current one is secure. If not, tighten it and go on your way. If that doesn't work then replacement is warranted.
I have a problem my tails are out. Went in the house for five minutes and came out and drove off and someone me my lights were out. I need help. I have no lights but I turn signal and hazard lights work.
Replace the brake light switch first thing when brake lights do not stay off. Check fuses first and then bulbs if they do not come on. If OK replace switch. Switch is a cheap easy fix and not worth the hassle of guessing.

did you ever find the answer my 2006 is having the same problem
I know this is years after the question was asked but you have to love Google. My battery was completely drained this morning on my 2006 PT Cruiser. After getting a jump I noticed the brake lights were on. After reading this forum I checked the brake light switch at the brake pedal and sure enough it was just hanging there. I must have kicked it off last night. After reattaching the switch everything works perfect.
