Replace your Idle Air Control valve also. Check for vacuum leaks. That should take care of the 1299 code. The 1684 code means battery has been disconnected or transmission is in limp mode.

Thank you for your response. I checked for a vacuum leaks ,Could not find any ( but the car would almost idle with big valve cover to intake manifold line disconnected making a big vacuum leak). Upon further inspection the engine it is running very rich , the plugs tips where black . Could this be a stuck fuel pressure control value? ( is was on my old 740 Volvo.).

Possible...could be a stuck or leaky injector also. Can you smell gas under the hood?

Thank You for your response. The fuel pressure was good at 55 psi. so I No clue what's wrong with the car. I'm going to have a mechanic look at it. Thanks again. Pat
