thanks, thats what i thought.but ,what makes you think that pls.
Because that is what happens when the timing belt breaks. Been there several times with my own PT Cruiser.

thank, for the info, merry xmas and happy new year to you.
Why can't any body figure it out? First of all, it is a intermitant problem right!? Electrical most likely. So what would just " shut it down" like that? My guess would be either the factory "kill" circuit is faulty. Either due to vibration or location ( PCB is vulnerable to external conditions like heat or moisture, ect....) or the ignition switch itself ( of low quality and/or bad design ) because that's the point where power is routed to the nessisary systems like the starter or coils and sensers during closed loop operation. Because it is being described like as if some one just turned off the key, except the steering doesn't lock, like if you really did turn it.
I have the same problem. A 2007 pt cruiser and it just saws and saws like it wants to turn over but nothing. I've tried the same thing as above where as I've tried jumping it and the battery works but it won't start. Any advice ? Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got a 2002 pt cruiser and if you turn the head lights on at night it won't start back for a week. Ive had the crank sensor, map sensor, can sensor, and something else. But it still won't start back after you use the head lights. What could it be. Please give me any ideas of what it could be. Or has any one else had that problem
