how to fix sporadic A/C issue

Asked by eggsRn1basket Jul 02, 2014 at 06:23 PM about the 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 PT Cruiser A/C works great - sometimes- then quits, while driving.  No connection to idle.   Seems to be more predominant when outside temp is very hot (when it's needed the most!), as well as engine being on several minutes.  Temp gauge reads fine, though.  Thought i'd read something about a 2nd fan?  But can't find that thread/site, and don't know what to look for.

I had a guy on here the other day with the same issue. He said the same thing. When it's hot, it fails.....when it's cool it works fine. I suggested maybe it's a bad blower motor resistor. Never heard back. Is it the cold air that quits on you, or is it the blower motor that quits?

Warm/cool especially in hot conditions indicates a recharge is due
