To change the water pump on that 2004 pt cruiser, you have to remove the engine bracket and timing belt on the left side of the engine. Remove the timing belt cover, engine bracket and timing belt. Make sure to use a jack to support the engine when remove the engine bracket.
if it needs a water pump it's best to go ahead and install a timing belt kit too since the timing belt has to come off, the water pump a timing belt are usually replaced at the same time
I get all of that I'm a technician. I just want to know how long to do it
remove right front wheel, remove grill, upper radiator support, lean radiator assembly far to the front, disconnect the A/C hose from the expansion at the condenser, disconnect power steering pump and move it aside, remove upper torque strut mount, remove upper timing cover, remove torx head center right mount bolt from the right front tire well, remove lower torque strut, jack engine up as far as possible and remove front bracket off engine, remove crank pulley, remove lower timing cover, remove timing belt, remove water pump, TIP, use ONLY oem mopar Orings on the A/C lines, after market won't work, they get shaved on the sides and it's a guaranteed leak every time, and you can only get a good reading on the high side of the gauges when using the shrader valve at the compresser, low side is ok to use at the strut tower, good luck
