Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Prior to replacing the timing belt and related parts , a shrill scraping  noise was coming from the
passenger side of the engine. After replacing these parts, the noise was still there.Removed the oil pan
and checked bearing clearance on rod bearings and end play on crank and everything was well within
specs. Replaced oil pump and balance shaft chain .Assembled everything and noise was still there.
The computer does not show any failure code. However , I have detected a loud knock coming from
the turbo during hard acceleration. The scraping sounds still are more prominent on the passenger
side near the area of the oil pump.Is possible that the turbo has a bearing failure and the noise is
resonating through the air tube that crosses under the oil pan??

It sounds like the turbo needs repair or replacement. After fixing that maybe the scraping sound will disappear.

Thanks, i plan to pull it off this weekend.I am looking forward to getting it back on the road.I have tore the front end and bottom end off the engine about three times and the last time I removed the balance shafts.I will probably buy a specialty harmonic balancer( ATI Super Damper -917469) instead of putting the shafts back.
