http://www.chrysler.com/carryover/download/pdf/manuals/2005_PT_Convertible.pdf All it says in manual is: "You can open the deck lid by pressing the Remote Keyless Entry Button or from inside the vehicle, using the switch located inside the glove box. The power deck lid release switch is disabled when the vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph (8 km/h), or when the vehicle theft alarm is in the armed or alarming state." The only emergency release is inside the trunk, so a person can get out if locked in. Now, on Page 25: " The indicator light in the instrument cluster will flash rapidly for 16 seconds. This shows that the system is arming. During this period, if a door is opened, the ignition switch is turned ON, or the power door locks are unlocked in any manner, the system will automatically disarm. After 16 seconds the indicator light will flash slowly. This shows that the system is fully armed" So according to the manual if you don't have the doors locked the button in glovebox should work. Unless the anti-theft light is blinking.
