starts but dies after a bit

Asked by GuruD5SQ1C Feb 05, 2024 at 10:26 AM about the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 PT Touring. Sat for 5 weeks since I didn't drive after an operation.
Appeared completely dead so I jumped it off. Started and ran after
disconnecting cables. Suddenly died. Turned key, dead. After a few minutes,
lights came on dash but turning the key killed it again. After a few minutes,
lights returned. What should I check?

Voltage loss, security system active, battery to far gone to recover.

You don't pull batt cables on a running car , You should never touch it again , bring it to a mechanic

Battery was 1 year old, which is why I thought it was the unlikely suspect, but had a problem. O'Reilly's tested and diagnosed. Warranty battery installed and I'm on the road.
