have a 2005 PT Cruiser convertible and the gas gauge  goes to 0 or to full for no reason and then the gas tank light turns on and then the check engine light. then after awhile it turns itself off until it does it again. so...today i put the fuel gauge sensor unit in and it is still doing the same thing.  i went and filled the tank and then it dropped to 0 turned on the check engine light and gastank light again and moves to wherever it wants when it wants.  Any ideas h ow to fix it please

I have the same issue. 2005 PT with 70,000 miles. Dealership replaced the fuel pump but the same warning light comes on again. Test reads that it is the fuel pump again..... Engine light and gas light comes on, fuel gauge drops to empty even if full. Then later or next day everything reads fine. My guess is some kind of bad sensor but dealer will do full diagnostic on it to try to figure it out. No way I am spending a ton of money on a 12 year old car. Will Fred Flinstone it and just track miles if necessary.

2006 PT Cruiser: OBD II code is p0463 Fuel level sensor circuit High Output. AND yes my CEL is on as a result of the Sensor being faulty, and my cruise control does not work. THAT IS THE ONLY CODE that registers.
