91 ford Mustang gt won't fire

One day on my way to work my car started to
shake really bad and the engine cut off, eventually
we got it back started but it would shake you to
death, we popped the hood and looked into the
engine bay and told my brother to crank it, it fired
and shook in park, something snapped and the
engine will just sit and spin, all the belts will turn
like it's going to fire but it just sits and spins.

I would check the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
