What could be the possible reasons my 91 Mustang turns over rev's to 3000 RPM's and cuts off?

When I start my 1991 Mustang it will turn over, I step on the gas and it will rev
to 3000 RPM's and cuts off.

Ford EECIV excellent computer system built around an (Intel-designed 8/16 bit processor called the 8061) system... Check the codes. Just a shot in the dark why not? The idle air control solenoid (IAC) is the suspect. If the engine will start with the gas pedal slightly depressed then the IAC is worthy of checking the old 5.0 systems are really basic and fun to diagnose. Regards
