I'm trying to figure out if this will be worth it.

Asked by Christina Mar 06, 2017 at 11:32 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM Van 1500 Cargo RWD

Question type: General

Hello! I will apologize ahead of time, I know hardly
anything besides basic mechanics. I have been
trying to cram alot quickly though.
I recently bought a 98' dodge cargo van. It did have
a problem with possibly the injectors. It doesn't
like to start when under a half a tank of gas. After I
noticed how badly the terminals of the battery
were. One was held by a wIng nut. I put on new
terminals and bought a new battery. To start the
vehicle now we have to do that fuel pump trick
where you switch the key to on and wait to hear
the fuel pump turn on. Repeat that abput 3 times,
then we can usually start it. Today it died driving
down the road. It was looked at and it was noticed
that all the casing from the wiring under the hood
are dry and very brittle. We checked then the air
filter, which resembled a blanket, the wires there
were also in that condition....

Im just wondering is this even worth fixing? I don't
have a significantamount of money to put into a
vehicle.

Run into a similar issue on a 2000 ford f50 but the fuel leak was within the tank itself, the pressure line had a pin hole and was loosing pressure after I stopped it, had to cycle key a fey times to get pressure to cone up. As far as the wiring. It's too much work unless u find a used complete harness from a parting out vehicle or junk yard
