1990 Ford Mustang GT Fox Body 5.0

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello All,
I have a 1990 mustang gt with. 5.0 302. I just
changed the TFI module and still having the
same issue. Motor cranks but will not fire
when hot. I have good spark and fuel coming
out of the shredder valve. I did not measure
the pressure. I also sprayed stating fluid the
the air cleaner and still not start. When the
motor cools down the motor will start just
fine and drive without issue. Sometimes I
have to floor the throttle and it might start.
The spark plugs seem a bit dry as well. What
are your thought.

Sounds to me like low fuel pressure...test for proper fuel pressure if not within specs then replace fuel pump.....

I’ve cleaned the contacts in the distributor and seem to be in great condition. I will check to see what my fuel pressure is at. Should the spec be 40psi?

Also my son fired it up this morning like nothing was wrong. This is driving me nuts, not too sure if it’s the coil, fuel, compression or a sensor.

Hands down COIL. Not a fuel pump. They don't work then not work. When a coil gets hot they break down internally by resistance. Replace the coil. It will be all good!
