the other day I started backing with the parking brake partially engaged.I could feel it pulling against the brake,but before I could disengage the brake handle it felt like something slipped.low pdl

now I have to pump the pedal or the brake light comes on and it feels like the back brakes are slack

does this vehicle have rear disc brakes or drums ? either way I'd check the freeness of the parking brake cable to the rear brakes . chances are the cable is sticking inside the housing and that will cause your symptom ... PBN

unless you've driven quite a while with your back brakes dragging ... this will require new shoes or pads ... PBN

thanks.Since i;m taking them apart,I will probably just do a brake job, they are drums in the rear.

OK , make sure the self adjusters are taken apart and cleaned up (the threads on the ajuster bolt especially )
